Who knew a Doctor-lite episode could be so mesmerising? "Blink" brought us the utterly terrifying Weeping Angels and taught us the vital lesson: Don’t. Blink. Ever. Steven Moffat’s writing here is top-notch, and Carey Mulligan as Sally Sparrow absolutely stole the show. If you haven’t seen this one yet, what are you doing with your life?

8. "Vincent and the Doctor" (Series 5, Episode 10)

Art meets time travel in this emotionally-charged episode. The Doctor and Amy travel back to meet Vincent van Gogh, and not only help him face a terrifying monster but also show him the impact his art will eventually have. This one is a tear-jerker, folks. Brilliantly written and beautifully acted, it's a must-watch.

7. "The Day of the Doctor" (50th Anniversary Special)

An absolute banger of an anniversary special! "The Day of the Doctor" brings together the 10th and 11th Doctors (hello, David Tennant and Matt Smith) and even features the enigmatic War Doctor. This episode is packed with action, nostalgia, and some seriously epic moments. And that cameo at the end... chills, mate. Chills.

6. "The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances" (Series 1, Episodes 9 & 10)

"Are you my mummy?" If those words don’t send a shiver down your spine, then you haven't lived through this haunting two-parter. The 9th Doctor (Christopher Eccleston) and Rose tackle a creepy child during the London Blitz, and it’s sheer perfection. Plus, it's our first intro to Captain Jack Harkness. Brilliant!

5. "Heaven Sent" (Series 9, Episode 11)

This solo Doctor episode is an absolute tour de force. Featuring Peter Capaldi’s 12th Doctor in a haunting, mind-bending maze, "Heaven Sent" is all about resilience and determination. The Doctor spends billions of years solving this puzzle, and it's captivating from start to finish.

4. "Human Nature/The Family of Blood" (Series 3, Episodes 8 & 9)

The Doctor becomes human, and David Tennant delivers an outstanding performance as John Smith, a school teacher who’s unaware he’s actually the Time Lord. Emotional, intense, and packed with stellar performances all around, this two-parter is definitely a highlight of Series 3.

3. "Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways" (Series 1, Episodes 12 & 13)

The 9th Doctor’s last hurrah is full of action, drama, and those pesky Daleks. Rose truly comes into her own, and the regeneration into the 10th Doctor is simply iconic. Russell T. Davies’ storytelling is at its finest here, making this finale a rollercoaster of emotions.
